WPFC Wins Northwest Champions League

For at least one weekend, WPFC can lay claim to being the best in the northwest. After dismantling Eastside FC 98 Red 4-1 a day earlier, WPFC edged Crossfire 98 James 1-0 in the final of the Northwest Champions League. Always determined, and considerably lucky in the scoreless first half, WPFC did enough to keep Crossfire off the scoresheet as they settled into the game.

In the second stanza, WPFC got the breakthrough goal as Austin lofted a ball across the box from the right corner. The flighted ball made it difficult on the Crossfire back line,  glanced off a defender and found its way into the back of the net. It was the only goal of the match and, in the end, proved decisive. With the win, WPFC earns an automatic berth to Surf Cup XXXI in San Diego, California.

WPFC 98 Black Win Group in NWCL

WPFC 98 Black has earned the top place in the Sawtooth Division of the Northwest Champions League. Finishing first in the group has guaranteed WPFC a seat at the table in the final four to be played on March 5th in Portland, Oregon.

Joining WPFC will be Crossfire 98 James, Eastside FC 98 Red and a wildcard to be named later. The battle for fourth comes down to FC Portland 98 Navy and ESUFC 98 Bayern.  ESUFC is finished on 19 points, but with 2 games to play, FC Portland can reach 20 and earn the wildcard spot. Keep an eye on the NWCL website for results from the matches to be played between FC Portland and NEU Gamba.

Spring RCL Schedule Announced

The RCL spring schedules are out, and WPFC will begin the 7-game campaign away against Evergreen/WA Rush Nike. The two sides met twice in the fall with WPFC winning the first and drawing the second.

Two newcomers make their debut in Division 1: Whatcom Rangers Gold and VUSA Timbers. Both teams did well enough in Division 2 to gain promotion to the top flight.  There are still lots of blanks to fill in, but the schedule is posted on our Schedules page.
